Who's behind Zespr?

We're Diana and Jirka, the developers behind Zespr.

It all started when we stumbled on a discussion where people were trying to track their personal spending down to individual items and complaining there was no sensible tool for it. Grocery prices are a constant talking point, so it struck us that Zespr could also give people objective insight into what food actually costs right now.

On top of that, legislation on digitizing receipts is on the way, and we wanted an app that doesn't sell your personal data to ad agencies and is simply useful.

After a few months we had our first simple version, and once friends gave us positive feedback and we'd ironed out plenty of bugs, we launched the first release on Google Play on June 21, 2025. The app is still in its early days, and we have plenty of ideas and plans to make it better.

How we got here

Zespr did not appear last week. Here is what happened and when.

  1. The first line of code

    It could not yet do anything worth showing anyone.

  2. Demo at TEPRVE 3

    We showed how data gets pulled off a receipt — and everything that can go wrong doing it.

  3. Launch on Google Play

    The first public version, eight months after that first line of code. Until then it ran on friends and family.

  4. App Store, three months later

    Zespr arrived on iPhone.

  5. AppParade #37 in Prague

    Zespr made the ten-project lineup at a Czech app showcase. The Czech AI Association wrote it up as one of the practical AI projects there.

    Forward an invoice and it processes itself. Recurring expenses landed in the same release.

    Slovakia

    A Slovak version. The first country beyond home.

    For freelancers

    Company IDs verified against the registry, VAT broken out, and receipts that save with no signal.

  11. The web app

    Uploading and reading receipts in a browser, at zespr.app.

  12. 2.8.0

    Thirteen new countries

    Signup opened to thirteen more countries, and the app learned German, Spanish, French and Italian. How strictly totals are checked is now yours to set.
